PCEA Kahawa West Church

Welcome to the Children Ministry

We introduce a child to the truth of the bible, so that the child may be led to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as our savior and grow in His grace (2 Peter 3:18).

Following a Full Council Meeting held on 4th July 2025, it was agreed that the Children’s Seminar scheduled for 12th July 2025 should go on as planned. It was held in church from 2pm to 4pm. There were 61 children (31 in group B and 30 in group C) and 8 teachers who attended.

Devotion was shared by the Patron, Elder Joseph Wataku from Psalm 121:1-8. Group B children were guided on Emotional and behavioral changes while Group C were guided on Mental health and family issues.

Vocational, Bible Study, Children's Rally and Music & Drama Festival

Following a teachers’ meeting held in 2025 in the church, members agreed that the above events would take place from 13th to 15th August 2025 (Wednesday to Friday):

VBS:

Children and teachers assembled in church on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm for the VBS. Devotion was shared by the Parish Evangelist, Elder Peter Murigi.

The VBS was based on the theme, Trusting in God’s promises even in hard times. On the first day, 170 children and 12 teachers attended. The children were taken through Daniel 3:16-28 where they studied the story of Shadrach , Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace.

On the second day, teachers and children studied the story of Paul and Silas while in prison from Acts 16:16-28. 180 children and teachers were present. Children were engaged in drawing, colouring, Bible quizzes and crossword puzzles. In the afternoon, there were outdoor activities for all the groups. Meals (tea, lunch and snacks) were catered for by the CBM and were enough for all.

Children’s Rally and Music & Drama Festival:

On Friday, 15th August 2025, children and 12 teachers gathered in church from 2:00 pm to 4pm for the Children’s Rally and Music & Drama Festivals. They showcased their talents in singing, dancing, gymnastics and fashion show. The above events were held successfully, children had fun and from the evaluation, they were able to understand and explain the theme from the covered Bible stories. The main challenge, though, was the low turnout of teachers.

Counselling Seminar

The above event took place on 14th September 2025 in church. It was conducted in Group C  byan invited guest speaker, Madam Magdalene. Fifty-five children were present.

The children were taken through self-esteem where they were guided on positive feelings about oneself, self-respect, self-acceptance and contentment. It was a very interactive session where the children were guided on how to understand their identity and differentiate between how they are defined by people and who they really are.
